Mr. Subash Tamang(double gold medalis in 13th SAG) and Mr. Yuvraj Bhujel will compete in the Asia-Pacific Championship to be held in Dubai.
According to the Nepal Golf Association, they will leave for the championship on Sunday. After practicing on October 3 and 4, they will take part in the competition.
Nepali players have been participating in the Asia Pacific Championship since 2010. Last year, it was said that the championship could not be held due to Covid. Mr. Subash had won double gold medal in the 13th Sag. He is ranked 301st in the world rankings for amateurs. Yuvaraj is in the 3858th position.
Chief Guest of the Farewell prgram President of the Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, President of the Association Mr. Tashi Ghale and Director of Kelmi Nepal, the sponsor of the national golf team, Mr. Pradip Neupane bade farewell to the players.
NOC President Shrestha recalled that golf started a new chapter in Nepali sports by winning a gold medal on the 13th SAG. He said that Nepal has achieved more success in martial arts in the past, adding that policy makers should also pay attention to the development of other sports.
NOC President Shrestha added that he would soon hold discussions with the government to prepare for the Asian Games to be held next year. He said, "We will discuss with the Youth and Sports Minister which sports will be given priority." At the event, Kelmi Nepal Director Neupane handed over uniforms and other items to the players on behalf of Kelmi.
